Boro was created after researching historical Japanese textiles techniques whist studying at Edinburgh College of Art . I was inspired by Boro patchwork where garments are beautifully repaired with fabric scraps and lines of hand stitches.
I have created products that incorporate waste materials and celebrate vintage Japanese fabric scraps and offcuts which would normally be discarded. I reuse and re-purpose as many elements of the Boro brand as possible by carefully sourcing secondhand materials and fusing them with modern design to create functional, beautiful products. Most items are unique and hand made in the UK.
